Business Use Cases

Machine Learning for early Sepsis detection

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body’s response to infection causes tissue damage, organ failure, or death. Sepsis is caused by an inflammatory immune response triggered by an infection which could be bacterial, fungal, or viral. Worldwide, an estimated 30 million people develop sepsis and 6 million people die from sepsis each year. Read more about our latest work in Machine Learning model for Sepsis detection ….

RNN model for Sepsis detection

Current techniques detect sepsis using scoring systems. However, these techniques do not leverage the inherent information available in-patient history, previous learnings and patterns inherent about sepsis manifestation. Currently, by the time sepsis is detected and the cause is identified, organ damage has already progressed to a potentially irreversible stage.  It is possible that the state-of-the-art machine learning techniques trained on large and diverse datasets can extract subtle, but highly discriminating indicators of the onset of sepsis. We have developed a deep neural network model that leverages the inherent time-series nature of patient data and can predict onset of sepsis 6 to 10 hours earlier.

Infrastucture inspection with Computer Vision and 3D sensor

According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, the US alone is estimated to have 600,000 bridges, 90,500 dams and 640,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. Computer Vision is being increasingly used to inspect infrastructure assets. Drones, 3D depth sensors, Computer Vision with deep-learning have the potential to change this area which is labor-intensive, sometimes dangerous and expensive.

Drones with sophisticated sensors to simple IOT cameras

Bridges, Dams and other utility infrastructure assets can be hard to access and subject to a range of weather conditions. On the high-end, drones with 3D sensor, radar, and high-resolution imaging cameras are used to document the assets. Extracting features of interest from the large volume of data and registering this multi-modal data can deliver significant savings.  On the other side, a simple IoT camera system can monitor and provide valuable data for context, predictive analytics, and maintenance.
